They are cute & unassuming mammal that we typically find amusing until they are on our property or worse yet inside our house!

Studies have shown that raccoons are able to remember the solution to tasks up to three years later. They found that raccoons were able to open 11 of 13 complex locks in less than 10 tries and had no problems repeating the action when the locks were rearranged or turned upside down. They also pass learned behavior onto offspring.
Raccoons often cause severe structural damage when they want to gain access inside or burrowing against structures. In some cases raccoons have clogged chimney’s and caused fires or death due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Many people have lost pets due to confrontations with raccoons.
